This piece was completed last-minute and put on display for an event while the oil was still wet. Someone must have touched it, causing some small marks and smears, perhaps under the assumption that it was dry and they were curious to feel the texture - or maybe an “angel” wanted to contribute to the final composition!

Design is inspired by early Roman / Ostrogothic / Byzantine mosaics, lesser-known Byzantine iconography, colors used in Renaissance paintings, and ancient Mesopotamian artifacts thought to have been created with a religious context.
